REDMOND, WA (August 12, 2015): Paizo Inc., publisher of the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game, is thrilled to announce today the company’s Pathfinder Society Organized Play program had a record-setting year at Gen Con, and recaps the new product announcements made at the Best Four Days in Gaming.
Pathfinder Society, the world’s largest organized play campaign, shined in the Sagamore Ballroom in the Indianapolis Convention Center, with 180 tables of Pathfinder game play, including 160 dedicated to the Pathfinder Roleplaying Guild, and 20 to the Adventure Card Guild, for a total of more than 1,300 players, a new record for Pathfinder Society Organized Play.
Further, the company made news by revealing the next adventure in the wildly popular Pathfinder Adventure Path line, Strange Aeons, a Cthulhu-based adventure set to release August 2016.
Says James Jacobs, Paizo’s Creative Director, “The Strange Aeons Adventure Path pits a your characters against a threat from the depths of time, space, and madness itself. From your awakening as amnesiac prisoners in an asylum ruled by nightmares to a final confrontation against an enemy far older than humanity itself, this horror-themed Adventure Path draws upon the writings and traditions of H. P. Lovecraft’s Cthulhu Mythos and ties into Paizo’s upcoming Horror Adventures hardcover rulebook in a campaign sure to drive even the bravest of heroes to the brink of insanity… and beyond!”
Paizo also announced next year’s hardcover RPG book release, Horror Adventures, scheduled for August 2016.
“We are really terrified by the ideas we have come up with for Horror Adventures, and we are looking forward to exploring all the different kinds of horror you can add to your game,” says Jason Bulmahn, Pathfinder RPG’s lead designer. “This book will contain a macabre selection of nightmares, from gothic classics to Lovecraftian terrors to inflict upon your players. Madness and corruption await!”
The massive Paizo booth on the Gen Con Exhibit Hall floor provided not only a space for sales, but an opportunity for Paizo employees, designers, and artists to meet with thousands of customers and show off the latest products from the world of Pathfinder, including this year’s hardcover release, the wildly popular Occult Adventures for the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game. Various Paizo partners also set up space in the booth, including renowned fantasy artist Wayne Reynolds, Black Book Editions (Polaris RPG), Ulysses Spiel (The Dark Eye, TORG), and Obsidian Entertainment (Pathfinder Adventure Card Game digital app).
